Paid Family and Medical Leave Law Passes in Connecticut

On June 21, 2019 Connecticut’s House of Representatives passed anew paid family and medical leave law (PFML). Beginning January 1, 2022 eligible employees can start to apply for a paid leave of absence totake care of a newborn, care for a personal or family member’s serioushealth condition, deal with any complications following military deployment, or to donate an organ.

How does this impact my company?

Connecticut PFML Timeline:

  • 1/01/2021 – Employee Payroll Contributions Begin
  • 1/01/2022 – Deadline for PFML Regulations
  • 1/01/2022 – Eligible Employees Can Start Applying for Benefits
  • 7/01/2022 – Employer Notice Requirements Begins
